The HESSO Initiative A New Reality... Get Real Prevention Black Educational AIDS Project, Inc. (BEAP) is reaching African-Americans through a HIV/AIDS prevention educational and outreach initiative... HESSO - Healing and Educating the Self to Save Others Since 1999, and through the collaborated efforts of several community-based organizations, BEAP has created an avenue to engage African Americans of Baltimore City and surrounding areas to respond to the challenge and responsibility of reducing the transmission and spread of HIV. The intervention model, Comprehensive Risk and Counseling Services (CRCS) provides intensive individualized support and prevention counseling. Our Comprehensive Risk Counselors help clients understand high risk behaviors associated with transmitting HIV and how to reduce them. This initiative is funded through a cooperative agreement with
