Rodney WilliamsComprehensive Risk Counselor
As a young man after triumphing over active drug addiction I made a decision to give back to the community. My efforts began at the community association in which I involved myself into various community projects in various capacities to meet the needs of the community. Helping others and making a difference in my community became a passion of mine which lead me to the Black Educational Aids Project in 1998 in the capacity of an Outreach Supervisor. In the year 2000 I became the Comprehensive Risk Counselor for the HESSO Project which is still up and running.
Besides life experience coupled with my work experience in this field, I obtained several certifications to equip me to be a better provider. I have become certified to facilitate groups, provide OraSure testing, OraQuick Testing, Social Marketing Training, CRCS training, Recruitment/Retention training, etc.
I also opened my own business in 1998 providing Photography services for just about any venue within Baltimore. I have used this talent to capture the transformation in peoples/clients lives from when they walk into the door to completion of the program. I have also used my photography skills to use as a means for fundraiser for BEAP so that we can continue/improve the services we provide to the African-American community in this fight to prevent the spread of HIV and other health disparities.
I really believe that my duty as a man is to protect the women, children and the elderly in the community. Furthermore, I want my legacy to be known as someone who cared and made a difference in as many lives as possible.
